I've got a 240V 2 Hp sprinkler irrigation system that pulls from our lake located 100' behind our house. The relay is currently located next to the pump. My Weathermatic controller is located on my house next to our outdoor breaker. As the 24 volt system activates the relay would it make more sense just to relocate the relay next to my sprinkler control and breaker box? I'm asking because my 20 year old relay just went out and this would be a great time to make the change if it makes sense.

Now 24 vac is from the controller and starts and stops the pump. A relay that is in a well house? If so that's one very good relay. Personally wouldn't change a thing. Tells me the pump doesn't short cycle. 24vac control signal is wired with the correct size wire. If relay is switching power at breaker wouldn't it cycling power to the controller also? Might lose the.program?
