Hi folks,
I have an iron birm filter using a Canature 565 series valve. It is a two-tank system were one is air and one is media. It is about 10 years old.
I have water that is being dumped through the drain when in regular service (not backwash). The plumber who installed this with my new house build is no longer in business. I found another plumber installed a service kit and rebuilt the pistons and seals but the issue continues.
This seems to happen only when the input is over 55-60 psi and stops as soon as it falls below this. I installed a boost pump about 9 months ago as I was having pressure problems on my second floor. I was running it at about 70 psi but have recent reduced it. I think this issue was happeninng before this pump install as my drain line froze (outside where it goes into the downspout) several times in the last 2 years (but didn't do it the previous 8) which makes me think there was a constant flow of water in some cases. It might be a coincidence that above 60 psi there is enough pressure to push water through a crack or other damage in the control head.
Any advice? I am thinking about cleaning the media but this seems to be a mechanical/valve issue.
Thank you very much.
