i would like to install a wall hung toilet with a ledge above it, which will require a shorter carrier unit inside the wall. does anybody have tips on how to minimize the height of the ledge? from reading the posts, the geberit 2 x 6 seems to be the preferred carrier, but i'm open to other suggestions. thanks!

Without incredibly costly engineered solution, a wall behind a wall hung two bolt style WC needs to be attached to the ceiling. If you are only talking about an opening, then yes, you could frame a opening if it has support to ceiling on both king studs.
