I need some help figuring out how to install this shower base that has about 10 feet under it. Most guides around the internet say to use mortar underneath the shower pan. The MAAX instructions specifically say not to put the base in wet mortar which I assume includes piles. The other option without mortar is to use shims. The MAAX instructions specifically say not to use shims under the base.

How do I level this shower base without mortar or shims?

All the details from MAAX on page 9:

Good catch on reading their instructions. I assume the base must have a series of feet under it that are all planed off or something that gives it contact througout the base. They mention using mortar to create a level surface but not to place the pan in the wet mortar.. So you could hire someone to lay a perfect base level.. or DIY

Depending on how level your floor is or isn't, self leveling mortar is the way to go. Plug any gaps you have in the floor and calculate very carefully the amount you need. Mix and place per instructions.

Thanks for the reply. I agree that using a self leveler on the floor is my next best option here. It's not level right now. The pan will float on the floor and I'm assuming that horizontal movement will be prevented by screwing the pan into the studs.
