I have one inch plumbing and I would like to add a meter to my water line so that I can see exactly how many gallons of water I use. Can anybody recommend a brand or vendor? Thanks.

Oh my gosh there are too many to choose from. Check with Badger as they make several different models. You can get the old dependable meter with a dial and a gauge, or you can go fancy and get an electronic version that can send the info to your phone.

Many softeners tote up the gallons used. That is not as accurate as a positive displacement water meter, and only measures the softened water and can be read in the diagnostics. So based on "exactly", that would not be sufficient.

I also like the idea of having a water meter for my well. However, I wouldn't want one if it would introduce very much friction loss. If the friction loss would be considered negligible OR have very little effect on pressure (less than 1 PSI), then I might look into getting one as well.

Can anyone comment on my concern a s well?

Thanks!
