Any idea how to remove this well cap? The four stainless bolts do not expand the seal. Idk what the center bolt goes to, but I loosened it 2 turns and can pound the top half of the seal half an inch in any direction with quite a bit of resistance. I tried to pry the top half off with no success. The well casting is 3". The 3" pipe runs inside the house and necks down to a 1.25" pipe that leads to a deep well jet pump. I took the piping apart and the 1.25" pipe runs inside the 3" pipe.

The reason I need the well cap off is because I need to get some Nu-Well in the well to clean the point screen. The jet pump will suck air, and this causes bursts of air from faucets. I've checked the connections before the jet pump and they are all air tight (even went to far as to saran wrap them to be sure). I presume that the well screen is clogged or my well is running dry. I called several well drilling companies but nobody knows how to get the cap off, and most well companies won't even come out since a jet pump is involved. I wanted to find the water level and depth of well (I have no information on the well. Contacted the DNR to try and get records, but they have none.) I googled the patent number on the well cap, but that didn't return anything helpful.

I've spent days researching trying to figure this out, but I'm just about out of ideas. Any help is appreciated.

I don't have the info you are looking for, but I found some things that may or may not be helpful:

http://www.health.state.mn.us/divs/eh/wells/lwcinfo/pitless.pdf refers to
"Duplex Type 2000 PJ2-C Single Pipe Packer w/ Concentric Piping – Backtapped (Out of Production)" under the Whitewater heading.

http://www.whitewatermfg.net/pitless_adapter-brochure_11-15-08.pdf shows a PJ-C on page 11. Maybe PJ2-C is for 2 inch casing, which would be 2.5 inches OD?

http://www.bakerwatersystems.com/uploads/files/products/category_pdfs/PJ_Info.pdf says
BACK TAPPING . . . When the inner well assembly is removed, a threaded casing the same diameter as the well casing and about the same length as the pitless unit can be screwed into the back tapping to isolate the well from the upper case. This isolation, during such well operations as jetting, sterilizing, and redrilling, protects the spool sealing surfaces from mechanical dam

Hmmm... I wonder if you sanitize, if that could loosen something that could clog the jet?

I have an old jet pump that I would use to flush the well. I just need to check the condition of the well.

I cannot thank you enough for those links. It explains my suspicion that the cap is connected to a pipe below. The issue now seems to be how I would get the Nu-Well tables past the o-ring seals. Off to do some more googling!

Well, it looks like the pitless adapter may have enough room around it for the pellets to pass if it weren't for the well spool! Anybody know of a way to remove the well spool without damaging it? Is it reusable?

I'll keep adding to this post in case anybody else finds this thread in need of information.

In case you're wondering what a well spool is and why it's needed.

It looks like a well spool will simply lift straight up and out of the well. If your well case doesn't have built up corrosion, the o-rings should just be lubricated with vasoline for re-installation.
