How to remove cartridge?

Hi all, I am looking to remove these cartridges to find out the cause of our leak. I also wish to find replacement knobs for them also as the old ones are corroded. Any idea on my best approach to undo them and also what will be a suitable replacement knob replacement. Cheers!

This what the handles look like. Well, except not so pretty.

The best way is to remove the stems and take them to a plumbing or hardware store and match them up.
Those may be Price Pfister, but it's a little hard to tell with the small pictures.
800 pixels is okay.

The handles are similar to Central, but you have to compare stems to be sure.

Any tricks of the trade to get them out? They are very tight.

Get WHAT out? the handles pull off and the stems unscrew using a socket wrench. If they were NOT tight, they would either unscrew with usage or leak.
