I am no well expert and our local expert wasn't totally sure as this is a new scenario to him.
Scenario: We are building a house 850' from our well. The well pumps water into a stock tank for cattle. The tank is right next to the well and runs on a timer that is hooked up and unhooked throughout the year (depending on when cattle is in this pasture).
Question: How would we set up so we can pressurize our home at any time and still keep the stock tank on a timer to fill it?

Just put on a pressure tank and pressure switch to control the pump. Use a non-modulating float valve in the trough, or have a solenoid valve controlled by a timer. Then run some 1.5" or 2" pipe to the house so you don't lose pressure to friction loss, and all will be good.
