Hi there, outside of me observing it happening, is there a way I can tell if my Kinetico softener (735) had gone through a regeneration cycle? Should I be able to see that the indicator dot on top of the discs has flipped positions between 12 and 6 o'clock by itself?
(In general, should that indicator dot only move when it is regenerating? Or should I see it slowly progress through the "in-service" region under normal operation, as it would if I were pushing it to do a manual cycle?)
As some background, I had a Kinetico softener installed at the end of last year and after the first month had doubts that the softener was regenerating itself. The dealer came back as a follow-up service call and after testing the water agreed that it may not have as the water was hard again. There was also no change in salt level since they first installed it.
Their service tech manually regenerated the unit a number of times and returned at a later date to also disassembled the head to clean it (he suspected that some dirt made it past the sediment filter and clogged the unit). However, since then, it's been a couple weeks and I don't see any change in salt level (I've been measuring the height with a measuring tape) and also the indicator dot is still in the same position from when we last did a manual regeneration.
Am I just impatient in assuming that a regeneration cycle should happen at least once or twice a week? I'll continue to monitor it, but thought to ask here if there was any easy way to confirm if/when a cycle occurs automatically. Thanks!
