How screwed am I? (Snake lost in drain)

I have been troubleshooting a toilet issue. (details on that above).

I augured the toilet and decided to remove it and run a snake down the drain to see if I had any obstructions. I bout a 25' Cobra hand auger. I start snaking it down the drain and there were no obstructions. Since I've been having a problem, I decided to keep going and see if I ran any any obstructions. As it started to go, the weight of the auger gained momentum and before I realized what was about to happen, the entire 25' auger/snake went straight down the flange and disappeared. I had no idea that the end of the auger was not connected to the real. I stood there in shock staring down the drain was my brand new wire auger was long gone.

Now, I've got this auger that went down, and who knows where it went. What do I do? How screwed am I?

I feel so embarrassed and stupid. I don't know what I do now. It went down so freely, that I have no idea where/if it is hung up somewhere.

Look inside of cleanouts for your big pipes. Got one just before the line goes into the yard?.

Basement or crawlspace should have cleanouts. It would be hard to imagine it going far.

The hardest part of these was getting the cleanout open. The cleanout did not have good clearance to open it, but when I finally got it, I was able to reach in and pull out the snake. whew!
