Good Morning!
I’ve found so many helpful posts in these forums since buying my first house last year, I know if there’s anyone out there can help me, this is where they’ll be
So, I bought the home about a year or so ago, and have gradually been doing diy upgrades as I go. Now that it’s time to address my basement laundry, I’m lost. I’ve done a ton of reading and believe I have decoded the plumbing setup I have. There is a running house trap (with both ends and clean outs inside the house) and the vent attached on one side comes out the front of my house through a grate. I know that house traps as a whole are no longer used in most states, but that’s not really the part I’m worried about. My concern is the drain pipe connecting to it from the left. It’s the drain from the double laundry sink, the “deep” side of which is used for the washing machine discharge. (At one point that pipe was also used for the sump pump discharge, which is not allowed here so I rerouted that outside and added a plug where it was previously connected.)
My question is, given the already too small (1-1/2 in OD) pipe coming from the sink, is there any way to add a standpipe with an AAV instead of using the sink? Right now I’m pushing the limit on how long the drain hose can be before it reaches the sink and it has to be run across the floor creating a definite hazard. But short of replacing and updating the entire sewer trap/main drain line setup, is that even possible? What would all of you do in this scenario?
