Hello, I'm replacing bed in my 12x52 tank, how much gravel do I need... do I just cover the basket or it should be higher then that ?

Thank you

several schools of thought, all really don't matter all that much but...

cover screen plus three inches...
or
fill the dome (as calculated but most tanks are not true to the shape...)
or
20#

Nicely done REACH.

1/8", #6 is preferred but... non nsf listed gravel... be careful. A lot of gravel can have serious impurities including arsenic, organics etc. since it is not typically intended for potable water

Thank you, looks like my local plumb supply store caries

So I guess the Red Marking is the one ? 1/8 in. x 1/16 ?

A7005A Gravel #20 1/8 in. x 1/16 in., red marking
A7006A Gravel 1/4 in. x 1/8 in., orange marking
A7007A Gravel 1/2 in. x 1/4 in., black marking

Good tip about NSF
