Installing a Weil-McClain CGA-25 in my garage with an apartment above. How high should it be off of the
floor? 18"? 24"? not quite sure. This is Jersey and I'll need to put a post or two in front. 3 or 4" post?
Thanks in advance.

This is a question for your local code officials. As a general case cast iron boilers are normally mounted right on the slab. If you're in the Superstorm Sandy flood plane there may be some other requirements (or not- I'm really not up on local NJ code.)

The WH designs today are required to prevent blowing up the garage if there are any fuel leaks from the vehicles...so some of the reasons to raise the WH no longer exist. Codes may or may not have caught up. Most do require protection so you don't damage the thing when parking a vehicle there, though.
