Help with 1970's Premier Lift and Turn Drain Removal [PIC]

First time poster and need help with removal of lift/turn drain plug so that I can unclog the bathroom shower drain. Anyone have any ideas? Would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Do you mean the lift and turn stopper in the tub? Some have a small phillups head screw on the shaft below the stopper top. Some stoppers will simply unscrew if you hold them about half way up and turn the knob on top. You can leave the stopper down all the way but you won't get as good a grip on the stopper. All the way up and they simply turn around and around. Some models have black plastic legs under the stopper and they are simply pulled straight up against the ring on the inside of the drain opening. A few old stoppers have a straight head screw on top.

A picture of YOUR drain would help since there are many different methods depending on the drain fitting. Some, you hold the large part while unscrewing the knob and then there is a screw underneath that removes it from the drain fitting.
