Hello I have one of those flame lock whirlpool water heaters model number FG1F4040S3NOV. So I noticed one day that the pilot light had gone out on the water heater. So I go to start the pilot light and can't get it to stay on finally I get it to stay on so then I turned the knob to the on position sure enough it ignites and starts to heat the water. Not 4 seconds later it just stops working. So I go over this again and again with no luck. So I call Whirlpool and they say unfortunately the warranty is up but they are going to send me this new thermocouple (for free) and that should fix my problem. Know the question is does this sound right on what it's doing and this thermocouple is the culprit. If anyone has any input on this I would greatly appreciate it.

Sincerely,
Aaron
