renovation battle zone. 2 showers with old Moen posi-temp single handle showers, one has a bathtub but the push button diverter is by the handle not on spout. what are my options to upgrade the trim kit? can the diverter be switched to the tub spout? dream case being just put in a new cartridge while I upgrade the trim/faucet handle, but I fear it's all too old. literally any advice would be helpful.

Your valve is not Posi-Temp. To convert to updated trim you will need to remove the push diverter and plug it. Adapter plate 145058 will need to be installed to convert the escutcheon screws from the 2 at the bottom to the Moentrol diagonal location. At this point the Moentrol trim of your choice can be installed. You will need to choose a trim with a diverter spout. These links should help walk through the process.

Any trim with a diverter spout in this list will now fit your old "Standard" valve. Second party websites would have more selection as long as it is made to fit Moentrol.
