Hello everyone,

So I just changed out my cold and hot handle stems, im having trouble with finding the right diverter to work. I took out the old diverter and it looked like an 7S-10D from delta. So I went to ace and bought one and I noticed that the old one I pulled out didnt have the "notches" (highlighted in red in the picture). It looked like they broke off or someone purposely shaved them down or broke them off. I Installed the one I got from ace and you cant even turn it without it without popping a blood vessel! I looked inside of the copper pipe where the diverter sits and I dont even see any place where the notches would sit. It's all circular with and smooth with 4 holes ( one on top, one on bottom, both sides for the water to run through. I thought today would be the perfect day to tackle this project.. But! Like every project, what is going to take "30 mins" turns into days . I have maintenance experience but I think they put the wrong stem/diverter in from the beginning. Any help would be amazing! Here is a diagram to what it all looks like, Also no part numbers that I could see so im hoping its even a delta valve body looks like it tho especially since the 2 stemsxfor the hot and cold worked.

Writing this many days after your post...hoping you figured something out. That is certainly a Delta-look.
Since you have great access, maybe just update the whole thing and if you didn't know: securing fixtures is a thing, really.
Personally, just using a remodel plate type of redo with single handle valve from Moen or Delta will be a vast improvement.
