Hello everyone, I am new to the forum and looking for some advice on the correct settings for my newly installed fleck 5810sxt water softener. I installed the system yesterday and today all the tap water inside my home taste very salty. I'm not sure if this is normal. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks everyone.

Household info:
6 person household (3 Adults & 3Kids)
4 bath
17-20 water hardness

System info:
Fleck 5810sxt
2.0 CU ft. tank (64,000 grain)
DLFC = 0.25 GPM

Not normal. You may have added extra water to begin, and it may not have had time to rinse away.

System info (not programmed)
salt lb/cuft : 7.125 ; A choice ( efficiency vs capacity)
BLFC : 0.25 ; Brine Refill rate GPM
cubic ft resin : 2 ; Same as (nominal grains/32,000)
Raw hardness : 21 ; including iron etc
Estimated gal/day ; 360 ; 60 gal per person initial prediction (auto-tunes)
Est days/regen ; 5.48 ; presuming days each use estimated

Fleck 5810SXT Settings:

DF = Gal ; Units
VT = 5810 ; Valve type
RF = dF2b ; Downflow, Double Backwash
CT = Fd ; Meter Delayed regen trigger
C = 44.6 ; capacity in 1000 grains
H = 22 ; Hardness grains after comp factor
RS = cr ; Cr = base reserve on recent experience
DO = 30 ; Day Override (typ 30 if no iron/Mn)
RT = 2:00 ; Regen time (default 2 AM)
B1 = 5 ; Backwash 1 (minutes) [3...10]
Bd = 60 ; Brine draw minutes if #1 injector; 90 if #0
B2 = 4 ; Backwash 2 (minutes)[3...10]
RR = 6 ; Rapid Rinse minutes
BF = 19 ; Brine fill minutes
FM = t1.2 (usual) ; t1.2 is default flow meter
RE = OFF ; Relay
VR = OFF ; ?

The less salt per cubic ft, the more salt efficient, but more hardness breakthrough.
The sweet area is 6 lb/cuft through maybe 8.5 lb/cuft.
BLFC = 0.25
cubic ft resin = 2
Alternative C and BF pairs:
lb/cuft ; C= ; BF=
5.250 ; 37.2 ; 14
5.625 ; 38.6 ; 15
6.000 ; 40.0 ; 16
6.375 ; 41.5 ; 17
6.750 ; 43.1 ; 18
7.125 ; 44.6 ; 19
7.500 ; 46.1 ; 20
7.875 ; 47.5 ; 21
8.250 ; 48.9 ; 22
8.625 ; 50.2 ; 23
9.000 ; 51.3 ; 24

4 gallons alone into a brine tank with no other water should not have caused that symptoms I think. The exception would be if VT is not programmed to dF2b or dF1b.

If the salt was not rinsed out, a manual regen should work, but just using 25 gallons of water at a fairly slow rate, which you probably already did, should wash the residual salt through.

If the problem continues, there could be a problem such as blocked brine line or a problem injector, or something else.

Do you know what injector you have?

I am not sure which injector I have. When I get home I will try to figure that out.
I will change the settings to your recommendations and perform a manual regeneration. Hopefully this will solve the issue.

You might measure how high the brine in the tank is before you do that. And again after.

19 minutes refill = 4.75 gallons, with a brine draw rate of approximately .25 GPM, 19 minutes to draw the brine out, X4 = 76 minutes, so 90 is fine.
