We currently have a 2-story dwelling with heated fully enclosed crawlspace. Main heat source: electric hot water radiation using Kitec plumbing. Due to the original zone set up and thermostat placements, the system is highly inefficient and expensive to operate. (Basically, I have really warm rooms and alternately, rooms with no heat) Four years ago we installed two heat pumps. One in the main living space on the first level, and one in the main living space on the second level. This cut our heat bills in half and improved heat distribution somewhat. Last year we did a complete remodel of the main bath on the second level and installed electric in-floor heating. We are now ready to completely pull the Electric Furnace and replace with either wall mounted convection heaters or electric baseboards. Questions: 1. Which are more efficient? 2. Where in the best room placement location for each type? 3. Is it "code" to place electric baseboard heaters under windows?
