Hi Folks-
I'm faced with this weird shower cartridge and I'm wondering if anyone recognizes what kind it is or has any idea how to pull it out.
Luckily there are shutoff valves for the water behind it but it is extremely hard to work and needs a wrench to turn the water on and off (very hard to turn off), so my thinking its it just needs to be replaced.
I feel as if to shut the water off you need to screw it closed, but it may just be the fact that its so tight.
Also Moen sells a twist cartridge removal tool

Its pricy, but I'm wondering if this would work here. I don't see any label anywhere saying what company the cartridge is.
Thanks for advice!!

The cartridge removal tool shown, is utilized to pull-out a stubborn, stuck-in-place cartridge after the retainer clip has been first removed.

As I cannot see any provision for a retainer clip, I suspect the chrome nut that is protruding through the tile backer board, maybe the cartridge retaining device, so you might require a deep socket wrench to remove the nut before attempting to pull the cartridge out.
