We have hard well water, I think 26 grains, small amount of iron, and we get white stains and paint/metal corrosion from the sprinklers.
Two things.
-Is it possible that something besides the hardness is causing the corrosion?
-Would it make sense to use a salt less water conditioning system on the irrigation line or is there some other solution people use for sprinkler lines?

I'm also on well at my place and get the white staining on the concrete from high lime. Unfortunately I don't think there's a solution that won't damage the lawn or cost a fortune unless you are watering a very small area. I've heard of folks using potassium pellets in softeners to not damage lawns but it's expensive.

It would not make sense to run your water thru deionization resin. That would be expensive.

There is something called TAC (template assisted cystalization) that some think is not a fraud. I am not one of those people.

For the sprinkler heads, I would think there could be a way to unscrew the heads, and to de-mineralize the heads, similar to how a solution is pumped thru tankless water heaters periodically. The soaking solution must not be discarded on the grass. Vinegar is one of the good soaking solutions.
