Hard choice on Rheems... looking for insight.

Which is more solid and a better choice?

I was looking at getting a Rheem Professional (Installer model) but I saw this other one in Home Depot which has an automatic shut off... (the warranty is longer and there are some other features which are Ok like it will contact you if a leak starts...)Which one do you think is the better choice?

We live on the second floor and own our condo. I am worried about flooding, but want a solid water heater.

I am hoping someone has experience with these good or bad. These both have similar features including a brass fixture for flushing.

If there's any way to drain the water, when you get the new one installed, install it in a pan. Even if the pan has not place to drain and you have a pan, you can have a WAGS valve installed that will shut off the water if it gets to 1/2" or so deep in the pan. https://www.wagsvalve.com/ No power to the thing. It relies on a disk like is used in airplane life preservers to release the valve to shut off the water. It's a one-shot deal, so don't experiment and get it wet!

I installed the Rheems Hybrid 50 gallon from Home Depot a few months ago. It has a water sensor that will shut off the water line, set off an alarm and send an alert to your phone. The Rheems conventional heaters I believe have the same feature. Install with a pan underneath and place the sensor in the pan.

While the initial cost of the hybrid is high the electric savings are substantial. Will pay for the cost increase easily in under a year. I was able to buy this heater on sale at Home Depot for $999.

You may want to refer to your HOA guide book. Some associations have strict rules regarding water heater, as a leak in one unit may affect other units.
