I just installed a brand new Goulds J5S for a shallow well and it won't kick on, just hums. I got it from a well guy who had it in his barn and it was super cold here last night. Could it just need to be warmed up, or could it be something else?

Anyone else experience this?

Update- an hour with a space heater freed it up, working fine now!

Thanks for your replies. The problem turned out to just be that the pump was REALLY cold after being stored in a barn for days of below zero temperatures. After an hour of warming with a space heater, it cranked up and ran fine.
