What do you do when a tightened connector points 180° away from where it needs to point? Would adding more Teflon tape have it tight with 1/2 turn less?

It needs to be tight to prevent an air leak of course.

It depends. With pressurized water you would not worry about an air leak. So is this for a shallow pump intake?

What kind of connection are you talking about.

A shallow well pump. The connection screws into the top of the pump. It's a right angle and connects the hose to the pressure tank.

The pressure gauge is not responding at all. I've re-primed the pump 7 times and run the pump 2 minutes each time. I need to add less water each time, but I'm not sure the pressure tank is getting filled at all so far. It's a new pump.
