I don't know if this is the correct forum to pose this question. I have a 2 story 1860-1890 farm house. 4thousand sq./ft, hot water baseboard, brand new boiler w/ outdoor reset, insulated as best as possible, new windows, had an energy audit done results were good just refill sporadic wall cavities. do not live on the second floor any longer but heat is maintained at 55 also unheated stairway to 2nd floor. I feel I pay an unproportionate amount just to heat half the house. Should I increase the 2nd. floor heat and open doors to heat the stairway? Would this balance the heat out?
Any suggestions?
Thank You

Hot flows to cold Rh flows high to low. Humidifier would help if your having problems with static and dry nose and throat.
Boiler brand and model? Fuel? 4000 sq ft and 10' ceilings?
