Hello,

I built a pony wall for my Geberit carrier and I am starting the tile process for my bathroom project. I am considering doing tile over it but I was wondering if it might be better to do some kind of finish that might be easier to remove should I have a problem with the toilet. Are a lot of the pro's here getting call-backs on these units that require wall demo just to get at the unit? I may be over-thinking this but I have a rustic bathroom so I could actually do a corrugated metal over the wall and have it fit the aesthetic.

Thanks.

JB, I installed a Geberit carrier as part of my master bathroom over haul. All of the working parts of that system are serviceable, and removeable through the flush plate opening. I didn't hesitate covering it with tile. If I absolutely had to I could open up the wall in the adjoining closet to expose the carrier frame, tank, and supply line. Very low risk IMO.

The panel with the buttons comes off and you then have access to the internal parts. Above you see the shutoff that supplies the fill valve.

Does your pony wall have a free end, meaning that one of its top corners is not connected to another wall or ceiling? If so, how did you design the pony wall to resist the overturning load imposed by the toilet and its user?

Cheers, Wayne
