In general, fittings that have been specifically listed for such use could likely be used. However, most codes I've seen prohibit
"tubing fittings" in concealed areas. As a matter of fact, a flare joint implies the use of copper or aluminum tubing,
which few jurisdictions allow for gas piping at all (as opposed to being an original part of a listed gas appliance). The flare connections at each end of a flexible appliance connector cannot be concealed, nor can any part of the connector be concealed, as in running thru a wall.

So: no.
