Friend's whole house flooded because the plastic part on the toilet flex line cracked.

Which toilet flex line is the best so this doesn't happen?

All the toilet flex lines I have seen have a plastic end to the toilet.

Shocking.

https://www.homedepot.com/p/Durapro...nless-Steel-Toilet-Connector-275125/300305782 looks like metal for the nuts, but it is so cheap, it may be weak somewhere.

Were you referring to the thing you turn at the tank as the plastic end?

What a shame. Has he contacted his insurance co?
While he is changing the flex supply connector, tell him to replace the angle stop too.

Toilet connectors from ten or more years ago were a bit thin.
They have made them more solid since that time. I do recall going back and seeing some of the nuts at the tank that had split.

Also I have had plastic fill valves develop leaks over time.

Not my hand by the way. :)

I've had 2 clients who came home from vacation in mexico to flooded homes due to busted off toilet flex connector nuts.

Even if you were to decide not to use a flex line.. the nut that comes with (if you're lucky) the toilet tank kit is plastic.

The brand of flex connectors with chromed brass nuts.. Wolverine Brass
