Planning a trip to see elderly parents and am considering turning off the main water supply at my homeowner's outside shutoff valve due to roller coaster temperatures. My heating/cooling system is a closed loop geothermal system with Ground Source Heat Pump. I have an electric water tank that receives passive heating by means of a desuper heater connection off of the GSHP. What are best steps to take if I do block incoming water supply at the homeowner's shutoff valve. Should I: 1. Turn off the desuper heater to the hot water tank? 2. Open a couple of both hot and cold faucet valves after shutting off the water to relieve pressure to hopefully minimize any pipes that might freeze and burst? For better or worse all of my branch supply lines are pex. Appreciate any advice and thank you.
