I'm prepping for a bathroom remodel which includes replacing a rusted-through (and patched) alcove tub. The replacement we've picked has this drain recommended as an optional add-on. Once installed, there will be no ready access to the drain. What are opinions of this recommendation? It's a bit pricey, but I can see using it would eliminate the need to cut through the ceiling below (front hallway) and potentially the adjoining bedroom and then repairing drywall. At the same time, I'm not sure yet if this kit could be installed level with the floor - it sure as heck doesn't look like the drain assembly would permit it in the tub drawings. Of course, if it DID work, and these things were reliable, I'd pay the money not to have to deal with drywall repair and to make the tub install easier.
