I have a Vermont Castings Radiance stove that is connected to propane. I am having an issue with finding a lot of white chalky material that has dropped out underneath it. I pulled the back off and see where this material has built up around what looks like to be some caulked/insulated seals. I do leave the pilot burning all the time. Can anyone tell me what is causing this and how to correct it? I've attached a photo. Thanks.

I've never seen refractory do that or fire caulk that is a high temp. I wouldn't doubt that when the sections were bolted together some squished out with cast iron there is a lot of expansion and contraction few pieces fell off. There might also be ceramic rope in a groove on one side like a gasket and the white stuff was to hold it in place as they bolted sections together. Call the factory ask them with all the numbers. Model and serial.

Vermont castings said it is just sealant and nothing to worry about. Just interesting that after a couple years this is the first time I'm seeing it flake off.
