So I bought a flow meter, a cheap one about forty bucks. I have a 12gpm submersible pump and when running a pretty big sprinkler, a Gilmour 8500 sqft sprinkler which is supposed to put out 7gpm at 60psi, the meter says the flow rate is around 32 gal. I think that is not possible obviously and the meter is just junk, am I correct?

Are you sure the flow meter doesn't say the flow is 32 liters/min?

Sounds like liters. 3.78 liters per gallon. 32/3.78=8.46 which is pretty close to 7 gpm that your sprinkler states. Sprinkler gpm ratings vary my several gpm depending on pressure.

Ok then the meter is reading liters when it says gallons maybe, I will switch it to liters and see how if that may work.
