Hi all,

First, I appreciate any feedback you might be able to provide!

What would be helpful to know:
1) Options for system/tech to address issue (I'm fine with spending 1-3K)
2) Recommendation where to get systems when there are limited options locally?

System: We have a Culligan soft minder twin (dual 1Cu*Ft) tanks with fleck 9100 valve: installed 17 years ago. 5 years ago I rebuilt the valve and replaced the resin. Water enters the house, goes directly to a WelExtrol tank (1") then to water softener (3/4 copper)- then to hot water heater (with powered and sacrificial nodes). I have a Home Master RO system for drinking water- handles the water just fine.

Usage: We are a family of 6 (4 kids under 10); 4 bathroom. Might use 100 GPD now- but expect that to go up as kids grow up and start showering more often.

Issue: Intermittently we have had smelly water out of faucets (often the hot water, but have had it out of the cold water as well) that turns orange in the tub, and occasionally results in red/orange fibrous goo in bottom of toilet tanks, with slight sheen on top of water. Shocking the well with bleach, shocking the water softener tends to help for a while (a year?).

Our water softener gears are stripping- the valves are getting stuck again. I'm ready to replace and open to suggestions how to best address our water issues.

Would love feedback on options to address my situation!

I’ve read about KL media with appropriate backwash (I have 12GPM coming out of water heater)- maybe ozone generation to deal with occasional iron bacteria. However no place around here seems to support that. Curious if I could source from somewhere?

Other options based on my well report? (Water test is outside spigot after 15 min flowing water.)
