Hi experienced team,

we have a 310 feet well, around 1500 gallons a day, in California,

1 HP grundfos pump, since 2008, 1.25 inch pipe,

static level tube does hold air pressure,

did put a clamp on ampmeter, 8.7 amps, after few minutes starts flickering, one amp up and down

from FE pumptec manuel:

"Yellow Load Indicator Light"

The yellow load light indicates one of three conditions:

  1. A solid yellow light with no flicker indicates a dry well (underload). This is caused by the load of the motor going below the underload adjustment knob. (If you have a Pumptec remote control, this will be indicated by underload in the Pumptec Fault History.)

  2. A solid yellow light with a slight flicker indicates an underload caused by a rapid decrease in load (approximately 25% over a twenty second period). (If you have a Pumptec remote control, this will be indicated by underload* in the Pumptec Fault History.)

any idea, should i be concern?

i can pressure and test the pipe,

and or disconnect a check valve at the well head,

    thanks in advance

I really think it is telling you the well is dry. Do you have a clip around amp meter you could use? I would check to see if the amps are really flickering and dropping as when the well is dry, or if the pumtec is just giving problems.

How much pressure on the static tube when the pump quits?
How much pressure on the static tube when the pump quits?

Thanks for the input, and happy holidays,

Static tube does hold air pressure,

that's what makes me concern,+flickering yellow,

have 1/2 inch hole in the well head,

thinking of lowering a string to get static level,

had a amp clip around the wire,

when it drops below 7 amps,

it shuts off,

lowered sensitivity to 60%

thanks for the input,

Is that 0.5 PSI or 5 psi?

0 psi,

does not hold any pressure,

as soon as compress is 100 psi,

it drops to zero,

and i know their is water,

i turn the system off for an hour,

and next pumping 100 gallons,

i have a water meter before the sand filter, and the tank,

thanks

0 psi on the tube means no water. Dropping a string probably won't tell you anything because it will get wrapped up in the pipe and or wire.

If you get 100 gallons after an hour and then the PumpTek shuts the pump off, you have a well yield of 1.66 gpm.
