Hello. I'm in the process of rebuilding my entire shower and have made it up to the point of the final mud bed. So far, it has a preslope, pan liner, and the top layer of mud all pitched to the drain. The pitch appears to be good for the most part except for a couple of high spots that need to be fixed before laying tile. It was a dry pack mix (4-1) but has hardened down after a day of letting it sit. Is there a hand tool of some kind which will "sand" down concrete?

Pick up a rubbing block/stone and it should make quick work of it. Here's one that should work. It will take a sharp edge off of a cut tile, too.

That one is in the same idea, but is a single grit. The dual grit one's fine side would be what you might want to take the sharp edge off of a cut tile. Personally, no, I"ve not used them, but at www.johnbridge.com, that's what they recommend. A sand or mud mix is actually fairly soft...great in compression, but not dense like concrete. You should be able to grind of a small hump easily.
