I have a new acid neutralizer tank that has a backwash feature. My old one did not, and the calcite mud would gather at the bottom requiring that the tank be completely emptied every so often. Does the backwash feature prevent this mud from gathering at the bottom? I can fill the tank with calcite myself, but I'm looking to avoid having to have the tank emptied by a service professional.

Typically the "mud" is reclassified. The smaller and lighter particles are pushed up during the backwash. The larger heavier particle go to the bottom. Calcite can be difficult to backwash so don't expect perfect results, just Improved results.
