I recently remodeled and out in new sink plumbing and this is my current hot water line setup. The valve is shark bite with 3/8" threaded top which I used the t connector that came with the dishwasher kit to connect the dishwasher line. The plumbing inspector didn't approve because he said I need to install valves so the faucet or dishwasher could be shut off independently. Do I need to take the shark bite valve off and install a dual shut off valve? Or is there a way I can do this without taking off the shark bite valve? Thanks in advance for the help.

Remove the shutoff and install a double shutoff.
Also, no tape is needed for the supply lines. It does nothing but make a mess and get in the threads that are meant to hold the next fitting on.
I have always installed a separate shutoff for the faucet and one for the dishwasher.

We almost ALWAYS use a dual outlet, (NOT a dual shutoff one), valve for the dishwasher, which is essentially what you have there, and the inspectors have absolutely no issue with it.

Is that Sharkbite valve grabbing on to PEX? That white thing below the valve looks like an F1960 expansion ring. If so, how did you transition to PEX from the copper?
