Hey All -

I was hoping you could help me with an issue that I’m having and can’t figure out what might be causing it.

I have side by side sinks, one with a garbage disposal and the other is a standard drain. When I have stuff in the disposal along with some water (usually to help the disposal) and I run the disposal, water comes shooting out of the other drain - sometimes as high as a couple feet into the air.

I’ve filled the second sink and let it drain but didn’t see any issues. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

We moved in to the house somewhat recently but it’s done it since we moved in.

If it’s a clog, is there a specific area that you think I should be looking?

Show a photo of the drain lines.

could have said its never worked right probebly bad plumbing job but no pictures

A garbage disposal acts like a pump. The outlet will take the path of least resistance. If there's a restriction, that could be out the other sink.

Here’s what we’re working with. Let me know what you think.

That's unusual. How about showing where the drainage goes into the wall or cabinet bottom. The first thought is that the drain leaving that area is partially blocked.

Missouri uses UPC, so I doubt that your installation meets that code.

picture still arent good I cant see where pipes go. send complete pic please

Fill both sides full with stoppers then pull stoppers see how fast they drain
The symptoms are classic drain stoppage, cheater vents of course exasperate the situation,
.

Here are a few more pictures. Does this help clear things up?

I’ll try the dual sink drain test later when I have a free minute. I know that when I did the second sink, it showed no signs of slow drainage.

Is there a basement beneath there with easy access to the drain pipe? If not, I would try running my RIDGID PowerSpin Plus #57043 snake, rotated by my variable speed reversible electric drill, down the drain pipe. I have some ideas how I do would do that. One would be to go into the upper santee, pointing the snake down. Then as I rotated and fed the snake, I would run some water down the disposal without the disposal running. I would run the water slow enough to keep the water from backing up through the upper santee.

ok looks like drain just goes down sorry not much help but i think possible drain blockage
