I have iron bacteria in my well and in my pipes. I've been looking for an effective way to get ride of it.

Fortunately, it's a second home that is infected which gives me a little more latitude. Specifically, I was wondering if I drain all my pipes and tanks for a month or so will this stuff die. Obviously, I'll still have to get it out of the well, but it will be a more contained problem.

What do you think? Are there other repercussions for leaving my pipes (including tanks and boiler) dry?
