We have a bathroom sink that began leaking. After looking closer, the drain pipe that the sink was tied to had corroded and was leaking. Looking to cut out the portion that was corroded and replace with PVC, found it was in really bad shape for as far as I could tell. We have a second bath directly behind the sink and that drain pipe seems to be in good shape. Can I tie into that drain pipe without causing problems elsewhere? If so, advice would be appreciated. If not , what are my options?
Many thanks

A picture 800 pixels or less may help.
If it's a galvanized nipple needing replacment, you can remove it and install a new one.
Directly behind, you mean in the next room?
If you don't use the existing drain, you still need to cap it.
