Hey All, in the very early stages of conceptualizing a kitchen remodel. I am tossing the idea around of a cantilevered bump out addition. See attached pic, that’s 95% of what mine would look like.

I plan to have the kitchen sink in this bump out. The joists run the same way as in the picture and the basement is unfinished. So for the drain, that seems pretty simple, but for the vent, how would I get a vent run out of that? The LVL beam supporting the second floor will span the entire length of the bump out. Does anybody have pictures or ideas on getting a vent back into the wall cavity on the second floor?

Looks like if you designed the roof joists to tie back in above the LVL you should be able to hop over the top of it.

straight up through the roof. its got double 2x8 plus 2 1/2 inches ridgid foam insulation so out of 5 1/2 inch wall only 3 inches of that is beam at top.

Yeah so I’d have to have the cantilevered section’s roof pitch enough to clear the LVL. That’s a good idea. See attached. In red would be that way.

also as I drew the path in blue. Is that also an option. Turing the vent horizontal to make it back to the original exterior wall?

Yep.. A simple added height or pitch creates a simple easy path for the vent that avoids the blue run with lots of drilling.
