Does dog ear elbow need to come out 90 degree

Hi,

Almost ready for Wedi board for my tub surround and the hand held shower temporary pipe looks noticeably off angle than 90 degree. Is that a problem other than i need to make a bigger hole to fit this in an angle?

The Horror. You need to shim it out the same distance as the pipe is from the wall, looks like you need to glue and screw a 3/4" or 1/2" block behind it.

You will need to align that better.
Perhaps a 2x4 in the wall you can attach it to.

How did you attach it to the laths without the screw coming out on the other side?
