Hi all. I had a faulty thermostat replaced in my water heater last week and the plumber told me that the wh was leaking and needed to be replaced. While getting quotes for replacement, another plumber told me I would need to get a thermal expansion tank as well. The first plumber did not mention this. I have a well and a CSV valve. Do I need an expansion tank? Thank you.

No, unless you have a check valve after the pressure tank for your well system, it acts as the expansion tank.
