I'm in the process of redoing all the copper plumbing in the area of a 40 gal electric hot water tank. Should I use over the counter heat traps. Should I make some type of loop trap. Do either of these do any good?

I don't like heat traps with the floating balls. Too many issues with those. Some of my 75 gallon water heaters have traps with flaps. Those seem to be fine, as water can get by at all times. You can loop the piping low, I never have.
