Hi Everyone,
We've been noticing nasty smells off and on after we wash our dishes in the dishwasher. Egg-like smells, or sometimes just old food smells that stick to dishes and sometimes glasses. Opening the dishwasher in the morning, you can sometimes smell it from a couple yards away. We rinse the dishes really well before loading every night.
Under the counter, I noticed the hose from the air gap to the disposal (the black one in the picture) sags enough for water and debris to collect. And indeed, when I stuck my gloved finger in the hole from inside the disposal, I felt slime. I ran hot water into the air gap to flush it out.
My question is, is this sag a no-no? Could it be causing the smells? Should I try cutting the hose with a saw and reattaching it so there's a downward slope from the air gap to the disposal? I haven't been able to find much online, or in the disposal and dishwasher manuals.
Thank you for any thoughts or ideas or theories, love this forum...
