You mean I've been using a 3/4" MIP to MHT all these years for no apparent reason?!?! ;)

They are not all 3/4" MIP or MHT.

They are just re-purposing Cloths-washer valves to make them cheaper.

And using Threads made in china, that are not worth a shit, when you try to make them work with something made in the USA.

Come to think about it, maybe you have.

No, but if you were using FIP to MHT adapters, then YES you were, because the hose gasket WILL seal to a 3/4" IPS thread. Clothes washer valves are "dual units", not single ones so the DW valve is not a repurposed WM valve. IT could be a refrigerator icemaker valve, if the refrigerator did not also have a water dispenser which, again, would be a dual unit DW valves are either 3/8" fip or MHT, unless it is a European one with their own connection.

Yea the Ice makers are using the same valves.

Some of the newer HE GE washers use the same type of valve also, but only on the ones with the separated mixing valve.

Seems that direct connect compression fittings are becoming a thing of the past.

They sell more leaking adapters that way.

DonL, I don't think cheap fill valves are a big issue, it's all the electronics that make the dishwashers (and all other water using appliances for that matter) too costly to repair, just after the warranty expires.
