Just started a reno, and had to switch my tub choice after already purchasing a tub filler and hand shower. The specs for the new tub don't identify any area suitable for deck-mounting a faucet, but I'm not sure why. The tub acrylic is 5/16ths thick and at the drain end the flat flange is 3 1/8" wide. Holes needed are 1 3/4 and 1 3/8ths. For my install, the tub will drop into a longer platform, so I don't need to worry about a wall being too close. There's an integrated drain, but offsetting the faucets won't be an issue for my install. Any advice on whether deck-mounting is possible?
If not, and I have to mount on the platform itself, the tub spout will likely only extend into the tub by 2.5". Is that enough? Or do I start looking for another tub filler and hand shower before the new tub arrives?
Lastly, if the tub drops into a platform, and I can deck-mount the filler, does that mean the faucet's installed through both the tub flange and the tiled or quartz decking below? Does this create any issues of not having any flex room between the tub and deck? Thanks for any advice you can offer.
