Hello all,

Quick question about Manual J and duct sizes. I just got my report for a new addition and I am a little suprised that all of my ducts are over sizes and in the notes at the end it spec dampers and load balance.

I understand that it is easier to have less sizes to deal with and having more air flow is better than not, but i have circumstance where the load for a power room or bath is ~20cfm and it still have a 6 inch round supply.

Is this was better, easier for the installers or lack of boots in 4,5,6,7 sizess? Example,, why not have a 4 inch supply to a 20CFM load?

Thanks,
Chris
