I have a Culligan HE1.25 water softener that is regenerating every day as indicated by the insane amount of salt we go through as well as the computer telling me it has regenerated 14 of the last 14 days although it says we use an average of 52 gallons per day (2 people)

I cannot figure out what is wrong and the Culligan tech is stumped too. The only documentation I can fine is the owners/installation manual that doesn't address this issue.

Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks

RESERVE CAPACITY = 10% (296 GAL)
FLOW METER = CAN TRIGGER
REGEN INTERVAL = 20 DAYS
PREDICT MODE = ON
REGENERATION ON MONDAY = OFF (all days set to OFF)
LAST REGEN TRIG = REGEN INTERVAL

Culligan units are junk and a lot of culligan dealers dont want to work on older
units and just want to sell you a new unit......

It really depends on how old the Culligan unit is...... and it sounds like it is not a
newer metered unit......

Working on a Culligan unit is nearly impossible because of the proprietary parts that
only they can easily get....

If they want to sell you a new unit, I suggest you go with a CLACK unit and get away
from Culligan

I agree 100%.
This is a 2011 model and I already invested in replacing all the valves, so I'd like to find a way to get it working correctly before I take the loss and replace the entire unit. And yes, no more Culligan after this.

so who put all the new parts into the unit.... was it you or the "Culligan guy" ??

If it was the Culigan guy then you are at their mercy.....and I have seen them shake folks
down many times.... and eventually they get a new unit from them out of frustration
Did he give you any warranty for his work??

good luck

I did it myself. Had a piece if plastic clogging the discharge line and tracked it down to the valves so I decided to replace them. This was, of course, completely unrelated to the daily regeneration issue that was occurring prior to the clog.
At the end of the day, this must be related to a setting I'm missing somewhere but I can't find any documentation online beyond the basic owner/installation manual.

I have been told that working on a Culligan water softener is like working on an expensive swiss watch and
it takes a lot of experience to actually do it all correctly... that is why the clowns at Culligan always
try to sell you a new unit..... they dont want to even attempt to rebuild one because they always mess them up
and eventually they sell you a new unit...(with some kind of discount for what you have already paid)....

The unit is 15 years old....
and if you are on city water the odds are the mineral bed is beginning to break down too

goood luck with this ---either way you go....

FLOW METER = CAN TRIGGER
Temporary workaround idea? Set this to not allow flow meter trigger, and go at a fixed interval for a while. You could set the interval long, and manually trigger a regen if you notice the water getting hard.

Well crud! I set the interval to 90 days, flow meter not allowed and it still regens every day. I looked in the stats and says the trigger was REGEN INTERVAL. I think something is wrong with the board. Just gonna unplug it and do manual regens when needed until I save some money for a new head unit.

Doing a factory reset on the board makes sense.

On a Fleck controller DO could not be set that high. Try setting REGEN INTERVAL to 28 in case the controller gets confused with a number too high.

Thanks for the suggestion, unfortunately tried and failed. You make a good point about being out of limits. On a hunch, I changed the day of the week setting from everything being NO to YES on WEDNESDAY. We'll see what happens tomorrow morning.

Its really not my problem here but
Dont you think it might be wiser to just shit can that unit and get a new Fleck or Clack unit with
a brand new #10 mineral bed???

Now If you are willing to wait long enough I might even be able to round you up a new Culligan control head
because I see them in the junk pile all the time at different supply houses

I'm not the type immediately go toss something to the curb without attempting to fix it first. The changing of the settings again failed and resulted in another regen so, at this point, it seems like it's a goner. Society these days appears to be all about replacement instead of repair which results in unnecessary waste and degradation of skills. I tried and failed and will likely order a new Fleck or Clack. Thank you for the suggestion.

Dont feel bad about throwing in the towel on this ,,,, many before you have tried
and failed so you really are not doing " the walk of shame" over this when you finally decide
to get a new unit... Hold your head up high....

I understand your dilemma... We are a throw away society today and because of
the labor costs to have someone make numerous trips and hunting for parts,
it is just easier and less costly to just get a new unit versus spending tons
of time trying to make repairs on something....

I have torn out numerous
kitchen faucets because finding parts for some ratty looking worn out faucet
and running them down cost money that the customer is not willing to pay for,
and I am not spending my day driving 30 miles across town
for a part and killing my day for free neither

If you were paying someone 150 per hour to fool with this dog you probably would have
given up long ago , but you did it yourself so its totally free....

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Presently the better unit is the CLACK ....they are much easier to work on
but the Clack probably would have to be bought through a dealer

The Fleck is being sold in mass on Amazon and they are not of the same quality
as the Clack .. and of course no one wants to work on stuff that they did not sell
you .....

I have torn out a few Flecks for some customers that could not find
anyone in town that could actually make repairs on them a few years down the road...

good luck
.
