I have a leak coming from under my tub. It looks to be coming from the drain.

I removed the plug which appears to be brass or some type of metal.
There is a crack along the threads of the drain following thread path.

Sorry the picture doesn't show the crack.

Can this have caused the leak or is it something worse like a cracked shoe?

Which I cannot get to.

This may be the cause of the leak. Replace it and see if the leak stopped.
BTW, why can't you get to the shoe?

When it was put in, the tub, its the type that sits on a black plastic surround. I assume to make it stable on the floor.

Anyway, the shoe is not accessible through the access in the wall plus its covered with foam. I know I can remove and replace that stuff.

I cannot tell if the shoe is a above the supporting floor or underneath the floor.

The house is only one level and access underneath, well, is a pretty arduous endeavor.
Rocks and boulders under the house make it tough. Especially for a novice like myself.

This is not my work. General contractor job
